Allentown Big Blue- Penna 1 Wall Super "B" Brawl Tournament

Results of our Super "B" Brawl , it was a great day for handball, the weather was awesome and our first event at Liberty High Shool handball courts in Bethlehem, Pa. Players came down from Bronx, NY, 1st Park NYC and Staten Island, we start of with the quarterfinals Frank Aponte/Carlos Reyes of Allentown vs Bucky/ Jose "Che" Cruz of Allentown, Bucky/Che where up 12-2 when Carlos went to return after a shot from Che from the left side of the court, when he dropped to the floor when he rolled his ankle, after a 15 minute injury timeout Carlos could not continue and forfeited the game, the next quarterfinal game was Fransisco "Lil Cisco" Lopez/ Tony Pena representing 1st Park NY vs Allentown's Juan Jimenez Jr/ Israel "Diver" Ortiz, it was a good game both teams were hitting hard shots and long volleys, Lil Cisco deep corners shots to the left corner left Junior's side vulnerable and Tony would take advantage of his own angle drop shot, Junior & Diver couldn't find the chemistry and went down 21-13, next is Staten Island own beloved son Zeav Robbins/ Jose "Joe" Acevedo vs Allentown's Keith Vassal/ Johnny Moya, it was a great battle alot of power shots after being tied through out must of the game Zeav/ Joe turned it up a notch and pulled out the game 21-15, and Joe "Joeg" Gritter/ Robert Jaramillo had a bye, now the semi's lock up Zeav/ Joe vs JoeG/ Robert, Zeav/Joe stepped on the gas and floor it to win 21-7 to advancew to the finals, JoeG/ Robert couldn't get it going.... the other semi was Bucky/ Che vs Tony/ Lil Cisco, Tony/ Lil Cisco came out playing hard and they battled back and forth staying tied in the first part of the game but Bucky unleashed the dragon showing why he is the master of the dropshot.... he must have dropped at least 10-15 dropshots.... he solely broke the opposing team with those shots and with Che's cross court whip shots thats all she wrote... Bucky/ Che advance to the finals 21-11, now the finals were set Bucky/ Che of Allentown vs Zeav/ Joe of Staten Island, it was a hard fought game thru out Bucky/Che capitalized on Joe's mistakes and Che was crushing the left corner which left Zeav way of the court then Buck stepped in and boink... another dropped shot.. Zeav/ Joe started a mini run but seamed to run out of gas...Bucky/ Che won 25-17. Lil Cisco and Tony defeated JoeG/ Robert 21-13 for 3rd place. Special thanks to everyone who traveled to participate in our event also Robe Purrone and Carlos fuentes with helping ref the games and Jesse Guy for helping with the sign-ups, and our Penna 1 wall staff President Rick Medina, Robyn Salkey Secretary coordinating the event and our Public Relations Director Dave Cardona who also was our grill master Dave those pinchos where slamming and also want to thank my kids Hector Jr and Tabitha for helping me set-up and with the drinks.
